Re-upholstery Check List

To reupholster or not to reupholster, that is the question.  This question is frequently asked when it comes to replacing an upholstered piece of furniture.

To help you decide, ask yourself the questions on this checklist:

  1. living room sofa with coffee table image 9280988Is the piece sentimental?  Does it have personal meaning to you?
  2. How well is it built underneath the fabric?  Does it have a hardwood frame?
  3. Do you need to replace cushions, padding, or tighten the frame?
  4. Is the item still relevant in size to your other furnishings?  Does it fit your décor?
  5. Do you like the way it sits?
  6. Is it the right size for its use?

The more a piece of furniture needs to be reworked, replaced, or restored, then the more it costs.  It may be worthwhile to visit with a designer at a North Carolina furniture showroom to see if it really is worth it.  Reupholstering an old piece of furniture is typically similar in price to buying a new one.

If you do see the value in recovering an old piece, then Hickory Furniture Mart is still a great place to look for fabric. Bring pictures or swatches of any existing pieces you would like to match and find a fabulous new fabric to update your look at Resource Designs. Not only do they offer fabulous fabric options – but reupholstering services as well!  You will also be saving the landfill from one more piece of unwanted furniture, and you can make the item look better than ever.

Stop by the North Carolina Furniture outlets to find just the right fabrics, trims, and other accouterments to snazz up an old dog.  On the other hand, you can find an incredible new replacement that suits your décor.
