Angie Cline of Magnolia Design Studio in Windemere, FL, is the Hickory Furniture Mart on the ground correspondent covering all things High Point Market for Spring 2010! She landed last night, and today was her first day navigating the whirlwind that is Market. During her stay, she’s going to be taking pictures and video while roaming between appointments which we will be uploading at the end of the day.
To kick things off, we wanted to share with you some of her “take aways” from her first day:
- Taking cues from many of the spring fashion shows, gray is very prominent; in 2010 gray is the new beige! While all different shades of gray are taking center stage, it is being mixed with unexpected colors of purples and yellows. Tone on tone of matte and shiny gray are creating some unexpected combinations for all rooms of your home.
- Pumping up the chic factor with a gray base, subtle color palettes are being mixed with citrine, tangerine, magenta, and teal. Added textures with fabrics are adding sparkle and glamour. Accents are being used to highlight color with unexpected pieces of art or a throw pillow.
- Floors are also taking cues from the spring runways with layering techniques. Seeing runners and area rugs on top of wall to wall carpet or a larger area rug. Geometric patterns with a contrasting striped runner are creating a dynamic look.
That’s all for now, but check back later for more updates, pictures, and videos on the latest trends from the High Point Market!
