New Fall Furniture Trend: Regal Purple

Love it or hate it, there is a color that continues to show up in new trends this fall:  Purple.  Many people refer to it as hydrangea or aubergine.  Regardless of what you call it,  purple is finding a way to work with all your other favorite colors and the combinations this year are quite stunning.

Soft shades of purple signify a sort of Hollywood glamour effect when paired with soft silvery tones of gray. Nearly monochromatic, this combination has a delicate feel that reflects light in an effortless manner.  Use mirrored end tables or a cabinet in painted finishes of cream or gray to compliment your collection.  Fabrics should have a soft shimmery effect in layers of tonal patterns.  You’ll hardly realize you’ve incorporated purple into your room with all the additional soft shades being utilized.

Brighter shades of purple paired with highly acidic greens and yellows give an edge to modern interiors.  The vivid effect is made crisper by adding white as an accent.  Abstract prints juxtaposed by graphic geometric shapes are just a few examples of what you will find in many of the North Carolina furniture showrooms inside Hickory Furniture Mart.

The coolness of purple and blue have a romantic feel of coastal watery tones. Coastal furniture trends use this combination to create a serene yet optimistic feel of the ocean.   You’ll find countless coastal options for your home inside the indoor and outdoor furniture stores throughout the Mart.

The earthy richness of a room is exposed with the brown-purple tone called aubergine, which has a cocooning effect on your space.  Mix aubergine with robust greens and golds to create a unique combination of warm colors.  While somewhat of a more masculine feel, this palette appeals to a broad spectrum of styles.  Pair it with buttery leathers and distressed wood tones.

For the truly trendy, showcase your purple with pink this fall.  This fearless combination is not just for little girls’ rooms anymore.  It has found a place in the living area, often next to a darker gray or taupe palette.  Fashion inspired prints featuring winding floral patterns and over-scaled damasks will use these colors in deeper tones of royal purple and fuchsia to brighten up any room.
