ARTISANS

Amanda Pearce & Ricardo Ramirez
Two Green Thumbs and More

(Level 1, South Entrance)
When Amanda was a child, her papa had huge gardens and the ability to grow anything he wanted. When she was six, she planted a few pumpkin seeds along the side of her family's home and grew an amazing pumpkin patch. It was then that she first heard the comment that she had "two green thumbs" like her papa. Papa also created amazing woodwork.

When Amanda met her husband, Ricardo, in late 2012, she soon discovered he also had the gardening bug. To beat that discovery, he was pretty good with his hands and loved to work with wood. After they married in 2016, they started their first business, Two Green Thumbs, and took on yard work and handyman services. Christmas 2016 brought wood working tools and excitement into their home. This encouraged them to grow their business to become Two Green Thumbs and More. Now Ricardo makes one-of-a-kind handcrafted wooden utensils and cutting boards. Ricardo received his first grant from the United Arts Council of Catawba County in late 2017 and was able to buy his first drill press, table saw and electric planer. These tools have increased productivity in the one-man shop, but all items are still one-of-a-kind. All items are made in NC. Amanda & Ricardo use a lot of left-over wood from the furniture industry, in addition to wine barrels and the occasionally gifted wood they receive from renovation projects or family heirlooms. Ask them the story behind the items that you love. Each one has a great history and they love to share!

Anne Fredley
Designs by Anne

(Level 1, South Entrance)
Anne began painting in the fall of 2002. It provided a creative outlet as well as a connection to her mom, also an artist, who had passed away in June. She still feels that connection every time she paints. Since Anne has always enjoyed trying to capture the beauty of nature in photographs, she naturally gravitated toward landscape painting. Much of her inspiration comes from photos taken during a trip to Italy, which included a landscape painting class in Tuscany. She feels such a sense of timelessness and a peace in the subjects she chooses. She uses fairly thin layers of paint and dry brushing to create a softer, more serene look. She hopes to continue learning and painting, as art provides both challenge and fulfillment.

JW & Sandi Baker
Wolf Song Studio

(Level 3, East Entrance, Outside of The Light Place on Saturday & Sunday)
The simplest answer towards explaining JW Baker is that he is an artist - always has been and always will be. As to his work, it is a progressive, visual journey that is marked with interesting waypoints represented by the paintings that he creates at those times. Each series of his paintings represents a new perspective, a new understanding and a new appreciation of being an artist.

Sandi Baker has always been an artist. She remembers taking long periods of time as a child examining the world around her. She was fascinated with nature, especially animals, and began sketching her observations. Art has been her main focus throughout her adult life. She strives to communicate the indescribable, complex emotions, the fierce pain of being misunderstood as women are, the confusion onset by perplexing world events, the elation of being at true peace, the supreme honor to view a wild creature up close, the things words fail to convey and the things that only the soul speaks of.

Their glass art flowers started by creating them as gifts for friend's birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, weddings and Christmas - any occasion to be able to make a friend smile. From there they "bloomed". They are a beautiful enhancement to any flower garden or yard. They are one of a kind - no duplicates, very unique!
