Hickory Furniture Mart recently hosted a group of professional interior designers for their Designer Experience event, which took place in Asheville, August 19-21. Designer Experience is a trade-tailored exploration of North Carolina’s furniture, design and homegrown culinary offerings throughout the state. Their agenda included a dedicated day in Hickory where designers from several different states visited the Mart and toured local furniture factories and restaurants.
North Carolina is home to some of the highest quality furniture manufacturers and expert craftsmen within the industry and Hickory, in particular, is home to one of the largest communities of furniture manufacturers, designers, and multi-generational family-owned furniture factories. Due to the large amount of highly skilled furniture workforce in the area, the Catawba Valley region is also home to many additional furniture-related businesses. The furniture and design heritage in this region is so well-known that visitors travel from all over the world because they want to buy their furniture where it is still designed and manufactured by local craftsmen who value the time-honored traditions of producing the highest quality of furniture available.
Hickory Furniture Mart offers interior designers plentiful resources for their design projects. There are thousands of customizable options to choose from along with furniture and design experts within the building and the community who are readily available to help them create one-of-a-kind custom pieces that will be enjoyed by their clients and their families for a lifetime.
During their time at the Mart, the designers were introduced to a panel of locally-owned retail showrooms inside the building. They were given the opportunity to ask questions about everything from how the furniture is made in our region to the most popular upcoming trends and styles being introduced to the market this fall.
Hickory Furniture Mart is a major furniture destination with countless selections of indoor and outdoor furniture, rugs, lighting, accessories, window treatments, luxury bedding, local artwork, custom fabrics, and leathers and much more. Tracey Trimble, Vice President & General Manager at Hickory Furniture Mart added “We were thrilled that the Designer Experience chose us to be part of their furniture experience in North Carolina. We have so many people in this building and our community that was born and raised with furniture in their blood and we always make sure people know we are here to use as a resource for anything furniture related. If we do not know the answer to a question, more than likely we are able to make a phone call or send an email to someone in the community that does. Hickory Furniture Mart has been a partner and a trusted resource in our furniture community for 60 years and we’ve worked with a number of designers during this time to help their clients find the perfect furniture for their homes. We welcome this new group of designers to the Mart and look forward to working with them on future design projects.”
The showroom panel included Nikol McRary of Amish Oak & Cherry, Donna Chamberlain of Designing Women, Stacy Lida of Good’s Home Furnishings, Kathy Gordon of Heritage Furniture Galleries, Andy Lominac of Hickory Park Furniture Galleries, Jason Dunn of Leather and More, Mitchell Gold of Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Vanessa Guidi of Reflections Furniture, Larry Spierer of Resource Design, and Whitney Jarvis of Simply Home by Lindy’s.
Special thanks to Jane Dagmi of Designer’s Today and the moderator of the panel along with Progressive Business Media’s entire team for organizing their visit to Hickory Furniture Mart.
