Pulling Your Room Together with Window Treatments

You’ve visited our showrooms at Hickory Furniture Mart and found the perfect discount living room furniture, or perhaps the perfect bedroom set.  Your space is ready for the finishing touches, and one of the best ways to pull it all together is through the window treatments.  The designers at Resource Designs will show you how to use custom drapes and shades to your advantage to soften a room and provide privacy when necessary.

One of the most important things a custom drapery treatment will do is add height to the ceiling, and compliment the window without overpowering it.  They add a finished element that pulls the fabrics, colors, and furnishings together.  We often stress to hang the drapes as high as possible in order to keep the ceiling looking tall, and walls wide.  The width of the draperies can be specified to a luxurious fullness, which adds richness to the overall look.

Just as fullness should never be skimped on, neither should length.  Drapes that are too short are like wearing high-water pants – you always notice when things are too short.  Shades and shutters need to fit the opening of the window to not show gaps of light and provide insulation when necessary.  Window treatments need to compliment the window, not overtake the room.

Ask any of the designers at Resource Designs how you can make window treatments work for you.  Bring your photos and window measurements so they can find the perfect design and fabric to suit your space.
