Youth Furniture Trends 2017

With summer coming to an end, it is time to start planning for kids to go back to school. Consider giving your children a fresh start to the school year with a complete room makeover. Explore the following trends and decide which ones you would like to see in your child’s room.

Bring the Outdoors, Indoors

Since Pantone named Greenery the 2017 Color of the Year, there has been an increase in earth toned colors and natural design elements being incorporated into the home. Natural wood bedroom sets, desks, shelving units and storage units are very popular, as well as drapery and bedding made from natural materials including: bamboo, organic cotton, wool, and linen.

Going Gray

Gray is the most common neutral color right now. It is incredibly versatile and pairs well with other colors, specifically pastels. It is a great choice for gender neutral nurseries and perfect for pre-teens transitioning into their teenage years who prefer a more modern look.

Sufficient Storage

Storage is an important component to any youth room. An ample amount of organizational tools are required to store all of your child’s clothing, books, toys and games without cluttering the rest of the room. Several manufacturers create beds with storage units underneath and headboards that doubles as storage cubicles to help organize all your children’s belongings.

Patterns & Prints

Patterns and prints are in high demand this year. Wallpapering one accent wall in a bold print changes the entire dynamic of the room and creates a focal point in which the rest of the room may be designed around. Bold geometric patterns on art and area rugs are a fun way to accessorize and add a splash of color to any youth room.
