Let us know, we can help.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is vintage?<\/h2>\n<p>Vintage is defined as \u201crepresenting the high quality of a past time.\u201d Believe it or not, vintage now includes items from the sixties and seventies along with antiques from earlier periods.\u00a0 Think \u201cMad Men.\u201d It may be an old table lamp from the 1960\u2019s that you found in your parent\u2019s basement or it might be a stereo cabinet that can be repurposed into a TV credenza.\u00a0 Pieces that represent a specific era such as Danish modern furniture from the 50\u2019s or even a classic Craftsman piece from the 40\u2019s are considered vintage (although these might fall into the antique category as well).\u00a0 No need to refinish or polish up these items.\u00a0 Worn finishes and aged metal are all sought after elements of vintage design.<\/p>\n<h2>How do I decorate with vintage pieces?<\/h2>\n<p>There are many ways to introduce vintage pieces into your d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add just a touch of vintage through the use of <a href=\"\/products\/accessories\/\">accessories<\/a>.\u00a0 Paint by number artwork (remember those?), ceramic ashtrays, colorful blown glass decanters, cocktail shakers, rotary dial telephones, macrame and other items from earlier times will add a vintage look to your rooms.<\/li>\n<li>Furniture items such as cigarette or drink tables, chrome furniture, large or unusual lamps or your grandmother\u2019s velvet tufted sofa will all add a sense of history.<\/li>\n<li>Family heirlooms will certainly personalize your space and add that vintage look you are longing for.\u00a0 You can proudly display your mother\u2019s wedding china or recover and enjoy your Dad\u2019s favorite recliner.\u00a0 Those hand-me-downs you resisted in the past are finally in style.<\/li>\n<li>Look for <a href=\"\/products\/fabrics\/\">vintage fabrics<\/a> and use them to create one-of-a-kind window treatments.\u00a0 Make drapery panels or add a hem or edge to your existing draperies.\u00a0 Toss some throw pillows made out of these fabrics on the sofa or recover your breakfast room seat cushions for an instant vintage look.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As with any themed decorating, a little goes a long way.
