What you put in the space matters, too. The stark look is a completely different design style, known as \u201cminimal.\u201d A soft contemporary space is easy to achieve by a few simple additions. Try including elements such as a luxe throw, or woven shades opposed to wood or metal blinds. In most cases, the use of solid colors with differing textures (such as a grasscloth wall-covering, or a solid rug with a textural striation) automatically adds a contemporary splash. Modernize walls with sturdy shelves to stack dishes, rather than putting them in cabinets. Or assemble a gallery of black-and-white photos by using the same matting and frame style (in varying sizes) for each image.<\/p>\n<p>Creating that same vibe from the cool hotel is a cinch.
