Purchasing Information

At Hickory Furniture Mart, we are committed to making your furniture shopping experience efficient and enjoyable. With over 60 years of serving our community and our dedicated Mart shoppers, we have earned a wonderful reputation as a trusted destination and expert in home furnishings by providing the guidance and exclusive furniture and design resources our furniture shoppers need. Below, you will find essential purchasing information to kickstart your journey, but always feel free to email us as well with any questions before, during or after your visit.

When placing an order at our showrooms and outlets, most will require payment in full for any items purchased directly off the floor. For any custom orders, a 50% deposit is typically required. The final balance is due upon the furniture's arrival, before scheduling final delivery to your home. Our stores accept various payment methods, including personal checks (local or out-of-state), most major credit cards, and wire transfers from our international visitors. Select stores also offer financing options, which may change, so please consult your sales associate for their most up to date payment policies.

While our showrooms collect and submit all use or sales taxes for North Carolina, out-of-state customers are responsible for submitting the appropriate sales and use tax paperwork in their own states for their North Carolina furniture purchases.

Ensuring the safe delivery of your purchases to your home is paramount to us. You may arrange shipping independently, or allow us to assist you in coordinating individual or consolidated shipping to your final destination. Each of our showrooms work with trusted shipping partners to manage the delivery process and provide you with estimated shipping fees based on your furniture's total weight and destination zip code.

For your convenience, each showroom offers a consolidated shipping form for customers making purchases from multiple showrooms inside the Mart. Simply request and fill out the form with your full list of items, then return it to the showroom where you made the majority of your purchases during your visit.

If storage of your merchandise is needed, a monthly storage fee may be applied and will be based on 3-5% of your total purchase price ($50 minimum).

Please note that any single item weighing over 350 pounds will require additional labor to be provided and available by the customer at the time of your delivery. We also ask that you please inform both your sales associate and your delivery company when they call you to confirm your delivery schedule if they will need any additional help bringing your furniture into your home due to concerns like additional stairs, tight turns, etc.

Once your furniture is ready for shipment, it will be released to a dedicated carrier. To ensure a smooth shipping experience, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Double-check all delivery information provided by the carrier when they call to confirm your delivery date, especially your address and itemized list of all furniture and accessories that should be arriving.
  2. If you are unable to be home to accept your delivery for an extended period of time, please inform your sales associate and carrier to arrange storage until your return.
  3. Make sure to remove any old furniture from all designated rooms before your new items arrive.
  4. Once your delivery arrives, thoroughly inspect all items for any damages or concerns.
  5. If any damages are found, you must refuse the piece(s) with the carrier and make a notation on the bill of lading. You will not be able to keep the items in your home because you do not want to wait for a return delivery. If you do this, then it will be considered your acceptance of these damaged goods.
  6. Professional repairs will be made to restore any damaged item back to factory standards. We will ensure every effort is made to expedite the return of your furniture to your home.
  7. Upon delivery, please have the freight amount due for any freight charges ready in cash, cashier’s checks, certified checks, or a money order. Some carriers also provide the option to pay in advance with a credit card on their website prior to delivery. This amount will be provided to you by your carrier prior to delivery and they will require payment in full for all freight charges before unloading any of your items from their truck.
