| Congratulations
to Debbie and Gray Nester, from Fort Mill, SC who
received their very own room makeover as part of
Hickory Furniture Mart’s Extreme Room
Makeover Challenge. Gray and Debbie received
a free room makeover, complete with select pieces
of furniture from participating showrooms*, as well
as a professional interior design consultation by
Sally Bentley of Designing Women. |

Debbie
entered the contest with a photo of her husband’s
home office and the following entry:
“The reason I am entering
my husband’s office is because he is so deserving
of it. He works a lot from home and gets so frustrated
because he has nowhere to put anything. We moved
into our new house almost three months ago and we
have lots of rooms to do, but this one is the most
important because he really needs his “own”
space for work and sanity. For so long he has had
to share an office with me and now we both have
our own rooms, but his is in desperate need of a
makeover. Things are still in boxes with nothing
to put them on or in. There is an old metal filing
cabinet from a garage sale and some other mismatched
furniture that he has to make do with. We have been
looking at office furniture for him but either it’s
way too big or too expensive and we’re really
not sure what to do in there. I would love to have
this room made over for him as a surprise. It would
be such a wonderful gift to him because he always
puts me and our son first and thinks of himself
last. Thank you for considering our room for your
Extreme Room Makeover!”
Entries were submitted and
3 semi-finalists were chosen. The public was encouraged
to log on to the Mart’s website and vote for
their favorite submission. In addition, photos of
all three semi-finalists along with their entries
were displayed at the Carolina Home and Garden Show,
which is organized and managed each year by Hickory
Mart Shows. Participants were allowed to cast their
votes during the show at Hickory Furniture Mart’s
display.
Gray and Debbie Nester were present and were accompanied
by out of town family members who traveled to the
show for moral support. The announcement was made
after all the votes made at the show were tallied
and added to the online voting process prior to
the show.
Gray and Debbie Nester would like to thank everyone
who was involved with this promotion.

Makeover. My husband now has a beautiful office
that he loves working in thanks to Sally's talents and
the new furniture and accessories from the generous
tenants at Hickory Furniture Mart. We couldn't have
